Who we are

The Madrid Players is an amateur English‑language theatre group based in Madrid, founded more than fifty years ago. There are more than 120 members from many different nationalities, mostly from English‑speaking countries, but we also have Spanish members and other English speakers. Some of our members sing, some dance, some get involved offstage in costumes, scenery, lights, sound, hair, makeup, and most act, but not all!
Becoming a member of The Madrid Players provides you with a myriad of advantages and opportunities:
- Half-priced tickets to all our shows
- The right to audition and perform in all our shows
- The right to be a part of our play-reading group
- The right to participate in our free workshops and social events
- You will receive our weekly internal members-only bulletin with news, audition opportunities, job offers, monthly social events, etc...
Membership is only 35 euros a YEAR. If you would like to become a member, write to us: madridplayers@gmail.com

The Research and Development Group is a recent venture of our association. Our aim is to experiment with techniques or materials relevant to theatrical production. We want to provide opportunities for our members to learn new skills and contribute to the knowledge of the Madrid Players in the stagecraft area. We also want our Stagecraft Laboratory to allow us to be more experimental and take more risks than we could if we were working on a show.

Initially our is on the area of set and props, but it may expand in the future to include sound, lighting, costume and make-up.

The results of our experments will be documented in this blog.
